Building a Vehicle Auction Platform on AuctionWorx
VIN-driven listings, damage annotation, location search and dealer workflows: how the pieces fit on AuctionWorx.

Vehicle auction platform development on AuctionWorx begins with how cars arrive: rolling dealer lanes or a scheduled sale night.
Enterprise for rolling dealer lanes
Systenics’ edition comparison says auto dealers and wholesale lanes with rolling arrivals and independent lot closings do well on Enterprise: individual listings, each on its own timer. If you run a scheduled sale night with a fixed run list, Events is the fit, with cataloged lots, staggered closing and auto-extend.
VIN, specs and custom fields
In Systenics’ automobile solution a VIN lookup fills 30+ specification fields. The page calls the spec table customizable. Anything beyond that, such as grade codes or lane numbers, would be a custom field, which is customization work.
VIN decoding providers and credentials
The automobile solution pulls specifications from four providers: Carfax, DVLA, Vehicle Data Global and ChromeData. The admin switches each on or off. Sellers can bring their own API credentials, or the site’s shared credentials get used. Systenics’ customization guide also describes VIN scanning through ChromeData at intake.
Damage annotation and condition
Sellers mark damage by placing pins on vehicle images and categorizing each one as Cracked, Dent, Scratched or Paint Chip. Buyers can zoom in or go full screen. On mobile the listing detail can also show a Carfax badge.
Bidding, discussions and fees
The automobile solution includes a hero vehicle slider with real-time countdown, a Live Recent Bids feed the admin can toggle, and Quick Bid from the listing grid. Listing discussions support upvote and downvote, threaded replies and live updates, and admins can pin a Top Comment. You set your own buyer’s premium and seller fees.
The customization guide treats make-an-offer for high-ticket assets like commercial vehicles as a custom workflow: buyers submit binding bids with a validity window, and sellers accept, decline or counter. If you also run lane-side or hybrid sales, the Live Auctions add-on gives the auctioneer a dedicated screen.
Location, directions and mobile
The solution has Google Maps driving directions from any listing and a radius filter by city or zip on the browse page. Buyers can use saved addresses, enter a location or tap “Get Current Location”. The AuctionWorx mobile app adds push notifications and camera or gallery photo upload, so sellers can list from the yard.
Lead capture, payments and hosting
The solution includes a branded “Request a Consultation” lead form that captures VIN, odometer readings, condition and media, and admins can configure multiple email recipients. Systenics’ customization guide names Stripe and Authorize.Net for payments. Systenics recommends Microsoft Azure for hosting AuctionWorx. Our hosting and support page is the service side of that.
How a vehicle project runs
Systenics works in four steps. A free discovery call gives a ballpark estimate. Requirements and UI/UX mockups produce a closer one. The build runs in milestones, is deployed to your AuctionWorx installation and is supported through future updates.
